Gaming For Post-Work and Post-Study Recovery for Neurodivergent University Students

If you would like to participate or have any questions, please contact Yuan You –   yuan.you∂student.kit.edu.

We want to understand how gaming helps (or sometimes hinders) recovery after work or study for neurodivergent university students.
The results will be used to develop design recommendations for future games and technologies that support well-being.

Total effort: approx. 3 hours over the course of two weeks

Language options: English or German

Participants receive a 10 € remuneration.

The study consists of three parts:

  1. Short pre-survey (10–15 min)
Basic questions about you and your gaming habits.
  2. Diary phase (14 days)
You keep a short diary about your gaming:
    • what you played
    • how you felt before and after
    • how stressful your day was
    You can choose:
    • online diary or paper diary
    • whether you want reminders or fill out everything autonomously
We aim for at least 7 entries.
  3. Final survey (20–30 min)
More detailed questions about your gaming, neurodivergence and recovery.

You can participate if you:

  • are 18 years or older
  • are enrolled at a university
  • live in Germany
  • are neurodivergent (diagnosed or self-identified)
  • play games regularly (at least 1 hour/week)

You cannot participate if:

  • you are currently in a sabbatical semester
