We would like to conduct an interview study with you to find out how and why neurodivergent people interact with digital games and what experiences they have with digital games.
The goal of the study is to understand how neurodivergent people benefit from gaming and what makes positive player experiences for them.
We will mainly focus on the interplay of neurodivergent characteristics (e.g. in sensory processing, attention and motor coordination) with gaming experiences as well as on your personal well-being and motivation while gaming.
The interview lasts approximately 60 minutes and can be conducted online or in person in Karlsruhe, Germany. The interview can be held in German or English. We will gladly coordinate the location, time and language according to your needs!
Your participation will be remunerated with 15€.
- A calm one-on-one conversation in which you tell us about your gaming behavior and experiences.
- The interview will be based on a guideline, that you can receive in advance. The interview is semi-structured, i.e. some topics are predetermined by the guidelines, but you are welcome to talk about whatever is important to you.
- The interview will last approximately 60 minutes and will be conducted as a video conference or in person at a mutually agreed time.
- You can skip questions, take breaks, or end the interview at any time. This will not result in any disadvantages for you.
- You are welcome to take part in the interview together with an assistant or another trusted person.
- We can conduct the interview in English or German - whichever you prefer.
- The interview will be recorded and transcribed for later evaluation. The recording and the transcript will be stored on secure servers, pseudonymized, and deleted after the evaluation has been completed. It will not be possible to identify you personally in the published results.
- You will receive €15 renumeration for your participation.
- You are over 18 years old and have your main residence in Germany.
- You are neurodivergent (e.g. ADHD, Autism, dyslexia). An official diagnosis is not required.
- You regularly play digital games, e.g. on a PC, console, or smartphone. By “regularly” we mean: you usually play a digital game at least once a month. The type of game and the frequency or length of the gaming sessions are not relevant. We are interested in all different types of players.
